Four Year Analytic Training Curriculum

The goals of the the four year analytic training program are to:

1) Advance candidates' breath and depth of knowledge of relational psychoanalytic theory

2) Provide supervision of and consultation on psychoanalytic treatments utilizing a relational stance of listening and intervening

3) Advance candidates' skills towards practice-based scholarship, training, and dissemination of relational theory including clinical writing, conference presentations, supervision, and pedagogy

4) Advance further relational theorizing through the creation of an alive, reflective, and socially-responsive community of relational psychoanalytic practitioners 

Program Objectives

1) Completion of 16 didactic/theory courses or equivalent over 4 years of coursework

2) Completion of 12 case conference/seminar courses or equivalent over 4 years of coursework

3) Completion of 6 full day intensives over 4 years of coursework

4) Completion of a capstone project, which may include a choice between preparing a conference presentation, a professional training related to relational psychoanalysis, or a scholarly paper for publication

5) Completion of two supervised analytic cases (see description of this requirement under Psychoanalytic Training)

6) Completion of two a personal analysis of at least 2 years in length (see description of this requirement under Psychoanalytic Training)

Also, while not required, we strongly encourage and prefer candidates' participation in annual fall and spring IRPP continuing education events.
